Echinococcus granulosus

This tapeworm is distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. The adult tapeworms are found in the intestine of dogs (the final host). The intermediate hosts of this parasite are cattle and sheep. A person may become infected with this parasite upon consumption of the parasite eggs, which are excreted in the stools of dogs. The unilocular cysts propagate like tumors in the liver or lungs.
